Papa Smurf
A fun, creative treat with marshmallows, jelly and whipped cream that is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults!
Ingredients:
For the red hat:
- 1 pack of Raspberry Vegetarian Jelly from Foster Clark’s
- 460ml or 2 cups of water
For the Papa Smurf head:
- 1 pack Marshmallow mix from Foster Clark’s
- 150ml water
- ¼ tsp banana essence from Foster Clark’s
- ¼ tsp blue colouring from Foster Clark’s
- Corn flour from Foster Clark’s
For the Papa Smurf beard
- 1 sachet vanilla whipping cream from Foster Clark’s
- 115ml cold milk
For decoration
- 1 piece of chocolate (or a similar dark coloured sauce to draw smiley lines)
Preparation:
- 1. Prepare the jelly by combining 460ml of boiling water with the contents of the sachet. Once dissolved pour into a circular container and rest for about 4 hours to set a solid sliceable gel.
- 2. Prepare the marshmallow by emptying marshmallow mix sachet in a deep bowl with 150ml boiling water and ¼ tsp of banana flavour. Dissolve the product using a spatula and let it rest for 10min.
- 3. Mix the product by using an electric mixer on high speed for 4 minutes or until it becomes fluffy and aerated. Pour the mix immediately into a round shaped container dusting with corn flour and let it set for about 4 hours in the refrigerator.
- 4. Once set, remove the marshmallow and jelly from the refrigerator. Cut ¾ of the marshmallow circular container to obtain the Smurf’s face and the jelly in a triangular way to obtain a red hat. Place the red jelly over the blue marshmallow to obtain the full Smurf’s face.
- 5. Prepare the whipping cream by adding the sachet and milk in a deep bowl and beat on high speed with a hand or electric mixer for about 4 minutes or until the topping thickens and forms light, fluffy peaks.
- 6. Spread the whipped cream over the face to obtain the curly beard of the Papa Smurf.
- 7. Use whipped cream to make white eyeball on the Smurf’s face.
- 8. Use melted chocolate or chocolate sauce to draw a smiling face line and the eye dots.
